Here's the short answer. In Montreal, professional dog grooming usually runs from $50 for a bath to $300 for a full groom on an extra-large dog. Where your dog lands in that range comes down to three things: their size, their coat, and the service you book.
The longer answer is worth two minutes of your time. Vague "starting at" prices followed by a surprise charge at pick-up? That's the most common grooming complaint we hear from Montreal dog parents, and honestly, we get why it stings. So at ATD Clubhouse, Montreal's upscale all-in-one dog centre in Ville-Marie near the Village, we publish every grooming price online, and your groomer confirms the total before the service begins. No mystery math, no awkward surprises. Here's the full breakdown.

What's included at each level
Bath, from $50
The essentials, done properly. A full-body bath with shampoo matched to your dog's coat, a nail trim finished with a hand file, ear cleaning, and an underpad shave when it's needed. A bath is the right call between full grooms, after a muddy week at the dog park, or for short-coated breeds who don't need a haircut. If your dog's coat needs extra work, say matting or a packed undercoat, dematting or undercoat removal is quoted separately (from $20) and always confirmed before we start. We won't touch it without telling you first.
Bath & Tidy, from $75
Everything in the Bath, plus a full-body brush-out, a face trim, and a sanitary trim when needed, so your dog looks neat without committing to a full haircut. For a lot of Montreal dogs, alternating a Bath & Tidy with a Full Groom is the most cost-effective routine going. You stretch the time between haircuts and skip the scruffy in-between phase. Everybody wins.
Full Groom, from $100
The complete service. A soothing bath with premium coat-specific shampoo, a full brush-out, a haircut styled to your dog's breed or your preference, ear cleaning (with plucking if needed), a nail trim and hand file, a sanitary trim, and an underpad shave. This is the service long-haired and curly-coated dogs genuinely need every six to eight weeks. Doodles, poodles, shih tzus, Yorkies, we're looking at you. Prices range from $100 for an extra-small dog up to $300 for an extra-large one, and your groomer confirms the price before picking up the clippers.
Puppy Intro Groom, $60
If you're looking for puppy grooming in Montreal, start right here. This gentle, shortened first session, built for puppies under six months, has one job: making sure your puppy's first grooming memory is a good one. The dryer, the table, the clippers, gentle handling, all of it introduced at your puppy's pace, never rushed. Puppies who start with a calm intro groom tend to become adult dogs who walk into the salon happily, which saves you behaviour-handling fees for the rest of their life. One price, all sizes, $60. Want to end the visit on a high note? Add the Puppy Socialization session, 30 minutes of supervised play with other friendly dogs, available only after the Puppy Intro Groom.
Add-ons: small prices, real difference
Book any of these alongside your dog's grooming appointment. Some pair only with a Full Groom, and we'll confirm what fits when you book.
- Blueberry Facial, $10. A tearless, brightening facial that cleans the beard and the area around the eyes (and smells incredible, we promise).
- Teeth Brushing, $10. Gentle brushing with dog-safe toothpaste.
- Face & Body Trim, $15. A quick clean-up between full grooms for long-haired dogs.
- De-shedding Treatment, $20. A deep undercoat treatment for huskies, labs, shepherds, and other double-coated shedders. Worth every penny in spring.
One thing you won't need to add: a nail trim with hand file is already included in every Bath, Bath & Tidy, and Full Groom. You should never pay twice for it. The $15 add-on exists for appointments that don't already include one. If you're not sure, just ask us, and we'll tell you straight.

What moves the price up (or down)
Size. More dog means more coat, more lather, and more drying time. That's why a full groom spans $100 to $300.
Coat condition. Matting is the big one. Dematting is slow, careful work, and it starts at $20 on top of the service price. The fix is cheap, though: regular brushing at home plus regular grooming appointments.
Behaviour. Anxious or reactive dogs need extra hands and extra patience, which is why a behaviour-handling fee (from $10) exists. It's also why the Puppy Intro Groom might be the best $60 you ever spend.
Coat type. A beagle's bath is not a samoyed's bath. Double coats and curly coats simply take longer to wash, dry, and finish.
What you're actually paying for
Grooming prices vary a lot across Montreal, and the lowest quote rarely tells the whole story. Here's what's behind ours.
- An experienced dog groomer. Grooming at ATD Clubhouse is led by Nancy, our head groomer, who brings 16 years of experience and a calm, gentle approach, even with nervous first-timers.
- A calm, premium space. Grooming happens alongside our daycare, in-home boarding, training, dog transportation, and curated boutique, everything under one roof. Your dog is groomed in a clubhouse, not a cage bank.
- Honest quotes. Published prices, confirmed totals, no pick-up surprises.
And yes, the four-legged management has opinions about all of this. Maïka, our three-legged Chief Dog Officer, and Max, our Boston terrier mascot, keep an eye on the whole operation.
Five ways to spend less on grooming
- Book on a schedule. Every six to eight weeks keeps coats manageable and keeps you out of dematting territory.
- Brush between visits. Ten minutes, twice a week. It's the single biggest money-saver in dog grooming, full stop.
- Start puppies early. A $60 intro groom now spares you years of behaviour-handling fees later.
- Alternate services. A Bath & Tidy between Full Grooms keeps your dog tidy at a lower average cost.
- De-shed seasonally. A $20 de-shedding treatment in spring beats weeks of fur on your couch, and a matted-undercoat bill too.
